Old Quebec Custom House

The Old Quebec Custom House is a two-story granite building defined by a rigorous, symmetrical facade, where four tall Doric pilasters frame the central entrance. Designed by British architect Henry Musgrave Blaiklock and completed in eighteen thirty-two, the structure sits near the Saint Lawrence River and Queen’s Wharf. Its sober exterior, marked by blind arcades and refined stone detailing, reflects the Neoclassical style favored for government buildings during the eighteen thirties.
