Séminaire de Québec

The Séminaire de Québec is a cluster of stone buildings defined by its horseshoe-shaped layout and an inner courtyard accessible through a covered passageway. Founded in sixteen sixty-three by François de Laval, the first bishop of New France, this institution served as the center for training the colony's priests and later as an elite school for young men. Its architecture mimics seventeenth-century French convents, featuring roughcast walls and steep roofs punctuated by dormer windows.
