Tallin town hall square

landmark

Tallinn Town Hall Square is defined by the gray limestone Town Hall, a fifteen-century Gothic building featuring a prominent, soaring tower that reaches sixty-four meters toward the sky. This cobblestone plaza has served as the center of the city’s lower town since the thirteenth century, functioning for centuries as a marketplace, a site for public executions, and the seat of local municipal government. Pastel-hued merchant houses frame the open space, which is anchored by the Town Hall Pharmacy, recorded as the oldest continuously operating pharmacy in Europe with roots dating to fourteen twenty-two.
