Fat Margaret is a squat, circular artillery tower with walls five meters thick, standing at the northern end of Pikk Street. Constructed between fifteen eleven and fifteen thirty, it was designed to guard the Great Coastal Gate and impress merchants arriving by sea. The structure measures twenty-five meters in diameter and twenty meters in height, a profile that contrasts sharply with the city’s taller, narrower defensive towers.
