Salme Kultuurikeskus

The Salme Cultural Center, or Salme Kultuurikeskus, is a large, Soviet-era building located on Salme Street in the Kalamaja district of Tallinn. It is identifiable by its simplified, utilitarian exterior, which reflects the shift away from ornate neoclassical architecture following the death of Joseph Stalin. The building replaced a public park that had occupied the site since the nineteen thirties, a decision made during the mid-nineteen fifties to accommodate a new home for a local cultural organization.
