Kiek in de Kök Fortification Museum

The Kiek in de Kök Fortification Museum is anchored by a massive artillery tower, reaching thirty-eight meters into the sky with walls four meters thick. Built between fourteen seventy-five and fourteen eighty-three, this cylindrical structure dominates the southwestern edge of Toompea Hill. Its name, a Low German phrase translating to "peek into the kitchen," originated from soldiers who joked that their high vantage point allowed them to see directly into the homes of the townspeople below.
