Freedom Square

Freedom Square is the primary public plaza in Tallinn, defined by a towering twenty-three-and-a-half-meter glass monument at its western edge. Known as the War of Independence Victory Column, this structure is composed of one hundred forty-three glass blocks topped with a Cross of Liberty. The square itself sits at the southern entrance to the Old Town, where the medieval city wall once stood before the Swedish bastion and Harju Gate were demolished in the nineteenth century.
