The Hôpital Européen Georges-Pompidou is marked by a vast, three-level internal street that runs through its core, covered by a glass roof designed to channel natural light into the building. Opened in two thousand one, this facility represents a major consolidation of three older Parisian hospitals: Boucicaut, Broussais, and Laënnec. Architect Aymeric Zublena led the fifteen-year project to design this site, which occupies land once used by the Citroën company in the southwestern corner of the fifteenth arrondissement.
