The Hotel Silber on Dorotheenstraße takes its name from a guesthouse purchased by Heinrich Silber in eighteen seventy-three, though the building is now known for its role as a headquarters for state violence. In nineteen twenty-eight, the structure became a seat for the police of the Weimar Republic, and following nineteen thirty-three, it functioned as the central office for the Gestapo in Württemberg and Hohenzollern. From these rooms, officers monitored political opponents, organized deportations, and directed repression against the local population.
