Heinrich-Heine-Denkmalanlage

The Heinrich-Heine-Denkmalanlage at Schwanenmarkt is defined by a bronze sculpture that breaks with the tradition of a heroic, standing statue. Created by the Düsseldorf artist Bert Gerresheim and unveiled in nineteen eighty-one, the work features parts of the poet’s death mask, which are enlarged, distorted, and scattered both inside and outside of a metal-rod frame.
