Girardet Bridge

The Girardet Bridge is a stone structure recognizable by four ornate pylons, each supporting a wrought-iron candelabra with two massive pendant lights. Built in nineteen oh five, the bridge crosses the Stadtgraben, a water feature that remains from the city's former fortifications. Sculptor August Bauer designed the stonework, which features masks and motifs depicting water spirits and river gods. Each of the four pylons symbolizes one of the elements: fire, water, earth, and air.
