Königstraße

Königstraße is a wide, tree-lined thoroughfare defined by a harmonious row of preserved eighteenth-century burgher houses. Designed by architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann and laid out in seventeen thirty-two, it formed the heart of the "New Royal City" commissioned by King Augustus the Strong. The street stands out for its cohesive Baroque architecture and the quiet, hidden inner courtyards tucked behind the main facades.
