The Dresden Hauptbahnhof is recognizable by the translucent, white Teflon-coated fiberglass membranes that arch over its train sheds. Opened in eighteen ninety-eight, this station replaced the earlier Bohemian station to serve as the primary rail hub for the city. Its design is technically rare, as it combines an island platform layout with a terminal station on two different levels.
