Hansen House

cultural

Hansen House is a thick-walled stone compound in the Talbiyeh neighborhood, enclosed by a high perimeter wall that still masks the inner courtyard. Designed by the German architect Conrad Schick, the building was completed in eighteen eighty-seven to serve as a leper asylum. Its original name, Jesus-Hilfe, or The Help of Jesus, remains inscribed on a stone lintel above the main entrance.
