The Destroyed City is a bronze sculpture standing over six meters high, depicting a human figure with arms thrown toward the sky and a gaping, hollow void where a heart should be. Created by the Russian-French artist Ossip Zadkine and unveiled in nineteen fifty-three, the figure captures a moment of intense anguish. The sculpture rests on a pedestal built from Labrador granite blocks, which were originally intended for a monument to Adolf Hitler in Berlin.
