Bergen Cathedral, known locally as Bergen Domkirke, is a stone church with a distinct, robust tower on its west end. While its historical records date back to eleven eighty-one when it was known as Olavskirken, the current building reflects centuries of rebuilding following at least five major city fires. It serves as the episcopal seat for the Diocese of Bjørgvin and remains an active place of worship.
