Nykirken

Nykirken, known as the New Church, stands out with a stark white stone exterior and a prominent, green-clad spire that rises above the Nordnes neighborhood. Though officially named the Church of the Holy Trinity, locals dubbed it the New Church when it was first consecrated in sixteen twenty-two, as Bergen already possessed churches that were centuries old. The building occupies the site of a fourteenth-century archbishop’s residence, and remnants of those ancient stone walls remain visible within its foundations today.
