Nonneseter klosterruin, Kapellet

religious

Nonneseter klosterruin, known as the Nonneseter Chapel, is a stone structure recognizable by its rectangular shape, pointed Gothic arches, and vaulted ceiling. It stands as a solitary remnant of what was once a prosperous medieval Benedictine nunnery, founded around eleven thirty and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. While the rest of the vast monastery complex disappeared under city streets and modern development centuries ago, this chapel survived as a choir addition built in the late thirteenth century.
