Goienkale

Goienkale is one of the seven historic parallel streets that form the Zazpi Kaleak, or Seven Streets, of Bilbao’s medieval Casco Viejo. While the original town foundation in thirteen hundred consisted of only three streets, the settlement expanded in the mid-fifteenth century after the demolition of its protective walls. Goienkale was added during this growth phase, occupying a space that once lay outside the original town boundaries.
