Txabarri Jauregia

The Txabarri Jauregia, or Chávarri Palace, sits prominently in Plaza Federico Moyúa, defined by a distinct Flemish Renaissance style that stands out against the surrounding urban landscape. Its design, characterized by an eclectic mix of stone and architectural detailing, was commissioned by the industrialist Víctor Chávarri, who spent his formative years studying engineering in Liège, Belgium. Seeking a residence that reflected the aesthetics of his time abroad, he hired the Belgian architect Paul Hankar, along with the local architect Atanasio de Anduiza, to bring this vision to Bilbao.
