The Bilbao City Hall stands out for its grand, symmetrical façade topped by a prominent clock tower, overlooking the right bank of the Estuary of Bilbao. Completed in eighteen ninety-two, this structure replaced an older administrative building that sat within the city’s historic Old Town. Architect Joaquín Rucoba designed the building on the site of the former San Agustín convent, utilizing a decorative style that drew inspiration from the architecture of the French Third Republic.
