The Batería de las Damas, or the Ladies' Battery, sits on the slopes of Monte Urgull, identifiable by the remnants of old stone fortifications and a collection of iron cannons pointing toward the Bay of La Concha. This military position was built to defend the port of San Sebastián, strategically placed to cover the harbor entrance, the island of Santa Clara, and the slopes of Monte Igueldo.
