King Tut's Wah Wah Hut occupies the site of the former Saints and Sinners pub on Saint Vincent Street. Opened in February nineteen ninety by promoter Stuart Clumpas, the venue was built to provide a dedicated space for emerging bands to perform at reasonable hours, bypassing the late-night licensing restrictions that often pushed live music into the city's nightclubs. It carries a name borrowed from an Egyptian-themed club in New York, and its modest capacity of roughly three hundred people makes it an intimate setting for performers.
