Balboa Theater (San Francisco)

The Balboa Theater is marked by a prominent, long-standing marquee extending over the sidewalk on Balboa Street near thirty-eighth Avenue. It opened on February twenty-seventh, nineteen twenty-six, as part of a citywide chain of neighborhood cinemas owned by Samuel H. Levin. The building was designed by brothers James and Merritt Reid, the architects responsible for several other city landmarks, including the Fairmont Hotel and the Cliff House.
