Kong Chow Sojourner Tombs

The Kong Chow Sojourner Tombs appear as a weather-beaten funerary monument nestled near the first hole of the Lincoln Park Golf Course. This structure is the final standing architectural remnant of the former City Cemetery, which operated here between eighteen seventy and eighteen ninety-eight. The monument features a Chinese inscription that translates to a temporary resting place for sojourners from Guangzhou, reflecting the traditional wish of early Chinese immigrants to eventually have their remains returned to their ancestral homeland.
