Lands End (San Francisco)

Lands End is a rugged stretch of cypress forest and rocky cliffs marking the northwestern corner of San Francisco. It sits directly at the mouth of the Golden Gate, where the Pacific Ocean meets the entrance to the bay. For centuries, this coastline served as a treacherous natural barrier for ships attempting to navigate the narrow channel. Today, the area is defined by the abandoned ruins of the Sutro Baths, a massive saltwater swimming complex that once operated here, and a coastal trail that follows the former railbed of the Cliff House Railway.
