Mile Rocks Lighthouse

Out in the water, southwest of the Golden Gate Bridge, sits a squat, white cylinder perched directly on a rock. This is the Mile Rocks Lighthouse. While it now supports a helicopter pad, the structure originally rose as a three-tiered steel tower that mariners once called the steel wedding cake.
