Mile Rock Beach is a small, rugged cove defined by its massive boulders and a direct view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Tucked beneath the cliffs of Lands End, the beach is reached by a steep set of approximately one hundred stairs. Its name comes from the jagged Mile Rocks located offshore, a shelf of stone just beneath the surface that historically made the entrance to San Francisco Bay one of the most treacherous shipping channels on the coast.
