Battery AMTB at Lands End is identified by its exposed concrete gun pads, which remain visible against the landscape of Fort Miley. Built during World War Two, this battery was a component of the harbor defenses designed to protect San Francisco from high-speed motor torpedo boats and aerial threats. Construction began in June nineteen forty-three, and the site became operational by January of the following year.
