Observation Bunker

The observation bunkers at Sutro Heights are two squat, concrete structures perched above the cliffs of the Outer Richmond. Built by the United States Army in nineteen forty-three, these stations were designed as part of a coastal defense network to monitor the Pacific Ocean for enemy ships. They were never armed with their own weapons but functioned as critical links in a triangulation system.
