McCrady's is defined by a distinct T-shaped brick building complex that connects a tavern on East Bay Street to a separate structure known as the Long Room, which faces Unity Alley. Edward McCrady, a local barber and wine merchant, purchased the tavern in seventeen seventy-eight and expanded the property over the following decade to include this expansive room. The architecture features an original second-story double piazza that once provided private access to the space for the city’s elite.
