City Creek Center is marked by a retractable glass roof that spans the walkway, a feature that distinguishes it from other retail centers in the United States. This twenty-three-acre complex occupies three city blocks in downtown Salt Lake City and opened in two thousand twelve. It was built by City Creek Reserve, a commercial entity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on the site of two previous shopping malls, the ZCMI Center and Crossroads Plaza.
