The School of Arts building at one hundred sixty-six Ann Street is a three-story masonry structure characterized by a distinctive lantern light that sits atop its hipped roof. Built between eighteen sixty-five and eighteen sixty-six, the site was originally known as the Servants Home, designed by H. Edwin Bridges to provide accommodation for single women arriving in Brisbane in search of domestic work.
