McPherson Playhouse

The McPherson Playhouse is distinguished by a red-brick facade facing Government Street, punctuated by a series of five bays that reveal its nineteen fourteen origins. Originally commissioned as a three-story office building, the structure was transformed into a vaudeville venue for the Pantages Theatre chain before construction was even finished. It opened in May of nineteen fourteen with a gala featuring jugglers and musicians, serving as a hub for touring acts that once included performing lions and prizefights.
