Emily Carr Statue

monument

The bronze statue of Emily Carr sits on the grounds of the Fairmont Empress Hotel, near the intersection of Government and Belleville Streets. Created by sculptor Barbara Paterson and dedicated in two thousand and ten, the work depicts the Victoria-born artist seated with her sketchpad. She is accompanied by her two constant companions: her pet Javanese monkey, Woo, perched upon her shoulder, and her dog, Billie, standing near her feet.
