Laurel Point Path

Laurel Point is a narrow, rocky projection that marks the south entrance to Victoria’s Inner Harbour. Today, concrete footpaths trace the shoreline here, offering a quiet vantage point to watch float planes and ferries navigate the channel. This parkland, now a part of the David Foster Harbour Pathway, masks a century of heavy industrial use. Before the walkways were laid, the point was home to a succession of factories, including a furniture plant established by Jacob Sehl in the late nineteenth century and, later, a soap and paint works that operated until the nineteen seventies.
