Old Victoria Customs House National Historic Site

The Old Victoria Customs House, often called the Malahat Building, is a three-story brick structure defined by a distinct mansard roof and a salmon-pink exterior. It sits along the waterfront on Wharf Street, overlooking the Inner Harbour as a remnant of the period when Victoria acted as the primary commercial hub for Canada’s Pacific Coast. Completed in eighteen seventy-five, it was the first federal building erected in the city following British Columbia’s entry into Confederation.
