Bastion Square is a pedestrian plaza in downtown Victoria marked by a ceremonial entry arch at the corner of View and Government streets. The square takes its name from the defensive bastion that once stood at the northeast corner of the original Fort Victoria, which the Hudson's Bay Company established in eighteen forty-three.
