Munro’s Books occupies a former Royal Bank of Canada building on Government Street that is recognizable by its twenty-four-foot coffered ceilings and neoclassical design. Built in nineteen oh nine by architect Thomas Hooper, the structure was restored by founder Jim Munro in nineteen eighty-four to serve as a bookstore. Inside, the space is decorated with textile banners designed by Carole Sabiston.
