Waddington Alley

Waddington Alley is paved entirely with creosote-soaked wooden bricks, making it the only street in Victoria with a surface of this kind. Running between Yates and Johnson streets, this narrow path was created in eighteen fifty-eight by Alfred Waddington, an ambitious entrepreneur who built the lane to provide access to three private lots he owned during the Fraser River gold rush.
