Church of the Tabernacle

religious

The Church of the Tabernacle, or Iglesia de El Sagrario, is identifiable by the elaborate screen at its entrance, a gold-leaf masterpiece carved by the artist Bernardo de Legarda. Located on García Moreno Street in Quito’s historic center, the church is physically attached to the Metropolitan Cathedral. Its existence stems from the work of the Confraternity of the Sagrado Sacramento, which began building the structure in the seventeenth century.
