The Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, known as EKKM, occupies a stark, three-story industrial block that once served as an ancillary building for the Tallinn Thermal Power Plant. You can identify it by its weathered, unrenovated concrete exterior, which stands in contrast to the polished institutions of the city. Built sometime in the nineteen-fifties, the structure remained empty for years until two thousand six, when a group of artists broke inside.
