The Stade Jean-Bouin is identifiable by its distinctive facade, a fine, wavy mesh of fiber-reinforced concrete broken into thousands of triangles. Opened in nineteen twenty-five and renovated extensively between twenty-ten and twenty-thirteen, the stadium is named in memory of the French long-distance runner Jean Bouin, who won a silver medal in the nineteen twelve Olympics before dying in the First World War.
