Saint-Pierre Cemetery

historic

The Saint-Pierre Cemetery occupies seven hectares of land in Aix-en-Provence, marked by its expansive, quiet grounds and a collection of graves belonging to the figures who shaped the city’s artistic life. Established in eighteen twenty-four, the necropolis was created by combining two private plots that had previously served as Jewish and Protestant burial grounds. It is today the final resting place for dozens of painters, sculptors, and musicians who earned the city its reputation as a cradle of culture.
