Fontaine des Prêcheurs

landmark

The Fontaine des Prêcheurs stands as a tall obelisk carved from Calissanne stone, rising from the center of a narrow, square basin. You can identify it by the eagle perched at the very top, its wings spread wide as it clutches a globe in its stone talons. At the base of the obelisk, four lions guard medallions that depict key figures in the history of Aix-en-Provence, including the city's Roman founder, Sextius Calvinus, and various French royals.
