The studio is a modest, ochre-colored building on the Lauves hill, distinguished by a large north-facing window designed to pull in steady, even light. Paul Cézanne built this private retreat in nineteen oh two, after he purchased seven thousand square meters of land covered in olive and fig trees. He wanted a space where he could work in silence, far from the city, particularly when the weather grew too cold to paint outdoors.
