Fontaine Du Roi René

landmark

The Fontaine du Roi René stands at the eastern end of the Cours Mirabeau, topped by a statue of the fifteenth-century Count of Provence, René of Anjou. Architect Pierre-Henri Révoil designed the fountain in eighteen nineteen, building it upon the site of an earlier pyramid-shaped structure that had been destroyed during the French Revolution.
