The Halle aux Grains features a prominent triangular pediment above its entrance, where a stone man holds an oar and a woman reaches out with a foot that dangles off the edge of the frame. This sculpture, created by Jean-Pancrace Chastel in the eighteenth century, represents the Rhône and Durance rivers, the two waterways that shaped the region’s agricultural wealth.
