Gänsemännchenbrunnen

The Gänsemännchenbrunnen, or Gooseman Fountain, is identifiable by the bronze figure of a man standing in a central basin, clutching a goose under each arm. Water flows directly from the beaks of the geese into the basin below. Cast in fifteen fifty by the metalworker Pankraz Labenwolf, the fountain was originally located at the Gänsemarkt behind the Frauenkirche. It was moved to its current position at the Rathausplatz in nineteen forty-five during the city's reconstruction.
