Nassauer Haus

The Nassauer Haus rises above the street as a block of red castle sandstone, distinctive for its crenellated roofline and corner turrets. It is the only surviving example of a medieval residential tower in Nuremberg, a type of defensive structure once used by wealthy families to protect their goods and display their status. Historians estimate that about sixty-five of these towers once stood across the city in the fifteenth century.
